Throwback Hoops: The Jordan Era🐈‍⬛, Raptors Retro 🦖, & the 2003 All-Star 🥇 Finale.

There’s something about old school 🏫 basketball 🏀 that just hits different😤. The aura🔮, the style🕺, the sneakers

👟 . It was the golden era of basketball 🏀 culture 🤳a time to be alive📶.

Lately, I’ve been deep in my throwback 🕰bag, reliving the 90s Jordan 🐈‍⬛era, obsessing over my favourite team 👬of all time the Raptors🦖' OG dinosaur jerseys, and rewatching📺 the emotional 2003 NBA All-Star ⭐️Game, MJ’s final All Star appearance🥇.

If you’re like me and going through that pull back to the hardwood🪵 history📚, let’s break down the ultimate retro basketball moments🏀📚.

The 90s Bulls 🐂 Era, Where Legends🎖 Were Made.

Before the superteams🦸 and Twitter 🦅rants, there was Michael Jordan, the original GOAT 🐐 of basketball. From 1991 to 1998, MJ’s Bulls didn’t just win six titles🏆, they also owned the league.

Whether it was the mid air 🤾‍♂️switch hands layup in ‘91 Finals🎫, the double nickel game at the mecca 🕋 of basketball 🏀 MSG 🗽 , or that cold blooded push off 🚀on Bryon Russell in the last dance 🪩 '98. Jordan turned every moment into a legacy🏵.

Iconic Moments📸:

1991 Finals🥇: Jordan vs Magic — Sorry, Showtime💡.

1993 Suns☀️ Series: MJ averages📊 41 PPG. First 3-Peat🏆🏆🏆.

1996 The greatest team ever 72 wins tough to beat. MVP🎖. Champion🏆.

1998 Finals: The Last Dance 🪩 . No push off🚀.

🧶👕The Threads(Uniform):

The black pinstripe Bulls 🐂jersey 1996-97⭐️

Air Jordan 11s🐈‍⬛: Concord patent leather🧳, futuristic🔮 then, timeless 🕰now.

MJ’s signature knee 🦵band armband 💪combo.

It was about presentation💡. He didn’t just play the game🏀, he made it art, he made looking good 😊 on the court🪵 a priority.

🦖 Raptors Retro: When Jerseys Looked Cool.

Let’s talk 🗣mid 90s Raptors🦖, aka the most awesome expansion 📊team ever. This was peak 90s design👕, purple jerseys👕, pinstripes🦓, and the giant red dinosaur 🦕 spinning a basketball 🏀 . And somehow, it worked.

🏀 Who Was Ballin🤑 ’?

Damon Stoudamire📩. Rookie of the Year 🏅in ’96.

Marcus Camby📡. All-defense 🤼team selection💾.

And a young Air Canada 🇨🇦 Vince Carter drafted in ‘99 would eventually take over⛓ by early 2000s, and that’s when things really got wild🐺.

🎽 Jersey Breakdown:

’95 Purple Dino 🦖 Home Jersey👕, The holy grail🔮 of NBA throwback jerseys.

Black road jersey with silver accents, Not so cool but it worked🚀. But paired with Nike Air Flights👟, Foamposites⛸, or And1 Tai Chis🛼, you couldn’t miss.

Love it or not, those jerseys defined the era🔮.

“The 2000-01 home 🏠 jersey is also cool 😎 , I’d wear 👕since nobody cares about it but I do.”

⭐️ 2003 All-Star Game: The End of an Era

If you want one night that captured everything retro and real hoop fans that was filled with emotion🫂, legends🥇, and legacy🎰, it’s MJ’s final All-Star ⭐️ Game in 2003.

Hosted in Atlanta🦅, it was a generational moment. Kobe Bryant⭐️ and Tracy McGrady 🚀were rising. LeBron James 👑was still a “jit” balling🏀 in high school. But the spotlight 💡still belonged to Jordan🐈‍⬛.

📺 The Moments🥇:

MJ 🐈‍⬛hits a nasty 🤮 fadeaway in OT classic⏱.

Kobe ⭐️answers back, with clutch play🏀 himself.

KG 🎫went off for 37 points, wins All Star⭐️ Game MVP🥇, but the emotion was all about MJ’s 🐈‍⬛farewell👋 .

🎽 The Jersey Game👕:

East vs West in bold throwback⏮ lettering, clean ✅and simple🆙. (Which I thought 💭 they would bring them back in the 2023 All Star ⭐️ Game.)

MJ rocking the Wizards no. 23 older, still rocked the tongue.👅

On court🪵 heat sneaks👟 Air Jordan 18s👟, T-Mac 2s🚀, and early Kobe Adidas.📶

🎶 The Soundtrack🔂:

50 Cent 🪙, In Da Club🍾

Missy Elliott💋, Work It📈

Jay-Z💰, Excuse Me Miss👩 and Encore📺

Yeah it was a time to be alive💎.

🔁 So Why Are We Still Obsessed 🤩 ?

Because that era had soul🚨🎼.

Not throwing shade 🕶on today’s game but the 90s 💭early 2000s ✅had a grit🦬 energy we can’t let go of. Baggy shorts 🩳 . Hardwood classics🪵.

Players had real signature 🤾‍♂️⛹️moves and even more signature🧘 attitude. You knew a game was a battle⚔️, and their fits just had to be just as sharp🤩✅.
