CHAPTER 1: COLLEGE CLASH 1979 NCAA Championship Game.

Magic Johnson part of the Michigan State roster and Larry Bird was a part of the Indiana State roster.

 This was one of the most watched college games ever. Michigan State ended up winning the game with a 75-64 victory, Magic took the W and Bird dropped 19 points in that game but the rivalry was just beginning.


CHAPTER 2: NBA LEGENDS COLLIDE 1980s

Showtime Lakers vs. Celtics Pride Bird.Magic’s Lakers and Bird’s Celtics met 3 times in the NBA Finals…

1984 — Celtics win (Bird)

1985 — Lakers win (Magic)

1987 — Lakers win again (Magic) Every Finals matchup was personal, it was an opportunity to make a statement.

The two had 37 total matchups. Magic has 22 wins and Bird has 15 wins against.

When it comes to championship, Magic has 5 rings and Bird has 3 rings. Both have 3x MVPs and both helped make the NBA global.

They started as fierce competition. Then later formed a deep friendship.
